Grounding Dog makes deliberate physical contact (nose nudge, paw touch, leaning) to redirect handler’s focus Interrupts dissociative episodes, depersonalization, or anxiety spirals by providing a sensory anchor to the present moment
Guide to Safe Location Dog leads handler to pre-identified safe location, exit, or quiet area when detecting distress or upon command Enables handler to remove themselves from overwhelming environments during episodes when cognitive function may be impaired
Tactile Stimulation/Interruption Dog provides licking, pawing, or nudging behaviors to interrupt repetitive behaviors or thought patterns Breaks cycles of harmful repetitive behaviors, panic spiraling, or disengagement states
